Another Busy Week!

This is our first whole class blog to show what has been happening in Class 6C.

Don't forget, you can also catch-up on what's been happening at: http://itsc1562s131.j2webby.com/?cat=7 where the children have all posted individual blogs to share their learning!

We have been busy bringing our topic to an end this week.  It has been EXPRESS week and that means lots to finish off and lots of learning to show.  Our topic this half term has been BEAST CREATOR and one of our most popular yet.  Just when we think we couldn't top our last topic, we go and do it again.

There has been some super learning taking place and lots of memories being created.  We discussed just today during our class council meeting the impact that our new Curriculum is having on our experiences in school.  Everyone in 6C agreed that our new Curriculum is so much more exciting and enjoyable. Some of our highlights from this topic have been:

Making bug models...

 Visiting The Butterfly Farm...

Making our News Reports and PowerPoint Presentations...

So, what have we been doing this week?

This week has been busy, busy, busy..... Bringing all of our experiences together to conclude our work on Beast Creator. Apart from that we have been finishing off Holes by Louis Sachar in Literacy. It is safe to say that this book has been a real hit with everyone. The storyline is amazing, with lots of twists, turns and unexpected connections between characters! Today we made warning posters for Camp Green Lake to warn people of the dangers when around yellow spotted lizards!

We just have three Chapters left to read tomorrow and then our treat for the afternoon is to watch the movie. We just hope that the film lives up to our expectations! What happens to Stanley? Does he survive the hole of doom full of yellow spotted lizards? Is there a happy ending? Mr Clarke then spent some time this afternoon discussing with Mr Rothwell, Mrs Pitt and Mr Crees aswell as researching on the Internet to try and find another exciting class reader for Year 6 next term - this was a hard task as Holes has been 'Epic' to quote some of the children. There are a few ideas noted down and Mrs Guest is researching too.  If you have any suggestions, let us know and leave a comment!

Today we ended the day by looking at Easter with Mrs Dewell. We discussed why Easter is celebrated. We also did fun activities linked to Easter, including making Easter cards and baskets! Where was the Easter bunny though?

We'd like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a HAPPY EASTER from 6C - enjoy the break! We will be back with more blogging after the holiday.

Our next topic is POTIONS with a lot more fun activities planned! Watch this space...
